	The Landmark Trust is a building preservation charity, established to rescue historic and architecturally interesting buildings and their surroundings from neglect and, when restored, to give them new life by letting them as holiday cottages. Warning - they may lack some mod cons that you would take for granted elsewhere - preserving the building takes precedence over comfort.

If you like your breakfast in bed brought by a butler, then these are the folks for you. Over 100 private houses across the UK, although they are rather coy about the actual locations, and like you to call them to discuss their location and details.

Premier Cottages  Good for complexes, cottages with swimming pools
	Not an agency, more a federation of owners. Each typically runs a complex, often with leisure facilities. Ideal for large parties, although deep pockets are usually required. Some exceptional properties. Self catering with extras.

Rural Retreats  The best place to look for a lighthouse to rent!
Rural retreats are the most flexible agency, offering stays from as little as two nights. Unkind rivals have commented that that's because no-one can afford to stay a full week. You certainly won't find the prices cheap, but they do pitch their level of service at a high point and many customers swear by them.
